$12M+ Investment in Northwest Florida Projects

Governor Ron DeSantis has announced over $12 million in funding for aviation and defense projects in Northwest Florida, benefiting four government entities. The Florida Job Growth Grant Fund will support three projects, while the Defense Infrastructure Grant will finance a security infrastructure project.
Pensacola State College will receive $4.41 million to establish an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics Program at Pensacola Airport, including a new hangar, training equipment, and operating costs.
DeFuniak Springs will get $3.05 million for the construction of two hangars and related infrastructure such as a taxiway and access road.
Jackson County will receive $4.68 million to build a two-lane road connecting a workforce housing development with an industrial area, adding to a total of $23 million invested in the county.
Santa Rosa County Whiting Aviation Park will be awarded $500,000 for a security fence project, featuring a double-entry gate system to enhance efficiency, security, and emergency response times.
Governor DeSantis emphasized that these initiatives would create high-wage jobs and new opportunities for Northwest Florida families. Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly highlighted the impact on sectors like manufacturing, aerospace, aviation, and defense, projecting nearly $25 million in economic benefits for the Panhandle.
