A construction crane collapse during renovations at HCA Florida Mercy Hospital in Miami resulted in one fatality and injuries to four individuals. The incident occurred around 12:15 p.m. when the crane failed while carrying mechanical equipment about 200 feet in the air. This tragic event unfolded as the equipment plummeted onto five construction workers.
The deceased victim was identified as Mario Bladimir Andino Renteria, 32 years old. Two of the injured workers received treatment at Mercy Hospital and are in stable condition, while the remaining two were transported to Ryder Trauma Center, where they are reported to be in serious but stable condition.
Fortunately, no patients within the hospital were immediately threatened by the collapse. However, as a precautionary measure, six to ten patients were relocated from nearby rooms, and the area was evacuated.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is actively assisting local authorities with removing the fallen crane and conducting an investigation to determine the cause of this devastating incident.
